Scaling is precipitation of inorganic scales of materials like calcium, magnesium, barium, strontium, fluoride, iron and silica in RO Membranes . Scaling shortens the lifespan of membranes,and it becomes important to clean membranes periodically. SCALING SPECIES THAT FORM IN MEMBRANES CALCIUM CARBONATE is the most common scale,that appears chalky and off white.  CALCIUM SULPHATE is generally known as Gypsum.Due to its crystalline structure, it causes damages in membrane surfaces.  SILICA deposition on membrane walls is also an usual scaling issue,that can be observed in form of colloids as well as of Aluminosilicates.
